Colour Pop Lippie Madness! [Review + Photos]

Hello There!

It's been a few months. A very busy few months for me on my end actually. Was caught up with work and trying to sort out all the paper work needed which is an absolute pain. However, that is not why I am here today. Today I am here to give you good people a review of some products I've recently gotten.

One of the companies that I decided to try out and order from happened to be Colour Pop. For those of you that don't know, Colour Pop is a makeup company that sells lipsticks (Lippie Stix) as well as shadows. They do not test on animals which is a massive bonus in my books and puts this brand in the front running. Their products are made in the USA (California for those of you that want the exact state) and are VERY wallet friendly at $5 a piece (lippie's, pencils and shadows)!! Lastly, but certainly not least, let's talk shipping costs. For my readers who are located in the US of A, shipping will cost you a mere $3 and for my readers located in Canada and internationally, shipping is a flat rate fee of $14.99.

Yours truly went a bit shopping crazy during Black Friday weekend and received my items that I've ordered from Colour Pop earlier this week. I ended up ordering four shadows and seven Lippie Stix! Two of the Lippie stix were gifts though so I didn't feel too badly about my five.

Now, onto the review of the Lippie Stix & Lip Pencils. The products came in the cutest box ever and was very true to the company name delivering a surprise pop of colour once the top was lifted. My items also came with a handwritten thank you card which I personally think is a great personal touch for their customers.

Of course, as soon as I got in and saw my package I just had to get swatching! I was pleasantly surprised at just how pigmented the colours were when I put them onto my lips. I got mostly matte, darker shades as I absolutely love matte lip colours and am on the hunt for a nice dark lip colour for the winter months. I included a photo of what my lips look like naturally for reference in case any of you were thinking of trying and have similar colouring to mine.

The packaging that the Lippie Stix come in are simple, white and have silver lettering. Again, the pop of colour comes in as soon as you remove the lid to your Lippie Stix and have the colour of the Lippie Stix in your face. It is lovely. I can fully appreciate the sleek white simplicity of the outside packaging that gives way to the pop of colour under the lid. It makes this little lady quite happy.

The colours go on smoothly and really pigmented especially when layered with their matching lip pencils (which I do have but forgot to get a photo of them for the blog). I tested the colour Ellarie, Creature and Leather during the week while at work. I put the colours on at 9am and didn't take it off until I got home at 7.30pm. I found that I had to do a minor touch up during the day at around 2pm with each of the lippie's when I was wearing them. I was impressed by that because I was eating and drinking like normal in order to get an accurate idea of the staying power this lip colour gives on a regular day. There was some transfer as is expected but not enough to make a big difference at all when drinking my tea and water throughout the day. As mentioned, I did do a minor touch up at 2pm and then didn't touch up again for the rest of the day. The main reason for the touch up was to replace the colour right inside of my lips where they meet as that had faded a bit but the rest of my lip was perfectly fine. The lippie stix are matte but definitely not drying on the lips which is a HUGE plus when it comes to matte formulas. Nothing worse than rocking a fierce matte, deeply pigmented colour and having your lips feel like the Sahara. They are also easy to remove (even after a day of wearing it) with a simple baby wipe.

Overall, I was quite pleased with Colour Pop's products and am already planning another order for this week to get some other colours that I have been eyeing up on the website. I highly recommend giving them a try if you're looking for very affordable lip colour with a great colour pay off. You can check them out here.

  1. I keep seeing this company everywhere, but wasn't sure if I would really like the product since there's no way to swatch it. I'm glad you mentioned how they feel on the lips as I've recently had an experience with an overly drying matte lipstick recently. You've convinced me and I'll be purchasing some soon :)
