What's the craic?
Day two saw us visiting Dublin city centre to explore the city and visit some sites. It was one of three days where we went into the city while we were in Ireland.
Day two wasn't as eventful as we had planned (with seeing sites) in the beginning because we were starving after the bus ride and walk into the city. We had missed our stop going into the city so rode the bus to its final destination to alight.
Once off the bus, we began walking to try to find somewhere to eat. One thing I'm not used to, having different menus at the pub's. They have a breakfast menu and then an actual meal menu.
Now, this is all fine and dandy except when you're hangry and just want to chow down but every place you walk into tells you that the food menu won't be available for another hour and a half. I don't know about you but hunger makes me quite irritable.
We walked to the top of Grafton Street, turned and walked back to the bottom on the other side. Trying to kill time and looking in shops as we passed by. We turned down a random alley and found a quaint little pub that offered an all day food menu! *Full tummy for two, please*
We were served by an adorably cute bearded Irish man with a great smile. Yes, I went there.
Okay, okay, where were we? We ate, all was well and began walking once again. We had plans to meet up with our host for a pre-Bastille Day celebration at a place near O'Connell Street.
On our way to meet up with her, we passed by a souvenir shop and popped in for a quick look. Well, let me tell you, that quick look turned into thirty minutes of looking and the purchasing. Haha.
After the souvenir shop, we ventured on to meet our host by the spire on O'Connell and we all walked to the bar that was hosting the Bastille Day celebrations.
There was a live band there that played covers of recent songs (think, top 40) as well as traditional French songs. I didn't quite catch their name but I did get a photo!
They were great. Really energetic and a nice array of instruments were played. While enjoying their music, we also got some crêpes from a crêpe stand that was there as well. They were delicious!
After celebrating a bit at the bar, we called it an early night as we were all knackered and could do with the rest. Vannie and I would return another day to explore some more.
I am trying my darndest to get photos up but all the WiFi connections I seem to be getting are rubbish and cut out constantly. I promise to get photos up as soon as I can!
Until next time,
Toodles! X
